Default Computer Science Still Useful?

I am going to be going off to college next year. I am thinking of majoring in computer science.

I am currently enrolled in the AP Computer Science at my school, and I'm having a blast!

But my teacher scared me. He said that a majority of programming jobs are being moved to India, and would not advise someone to get a computer science degree.

Do you think computer science would be a useful major?

Get a job while you study in support or something which is difficult to be outsourced. You know like in the library or something. Someone from India can't change the toner cartridges! Also do courses for useful qualifications to employers as you do your degree like your CCIE or w/e.

It depends on what you cover in the course. Make sure you do something that can't be outsourced easily (support and programming are what I'm thinking when I say that). Generally something that requires you to be on site is the best, as far as outsourcing is concerned.

Make sure and take some business courses though, since how you represent yourself is very important. If people only know you from e-mail and phone calls, you need to be able to communicate effectively through those media. If not, as most computer people are, you won't get too far in the business world. Most of the CS majors I talk to said they should have taken a business major with CS as a minor. Would have served them better.

Just some things to think about.

Isnt this like the 5th "omg what should I do with my life" thread?

Suggestion: Quit making threads and figure things out on your own. This forum is not your personal life coach, they have paid people in your school for that.

Closed btw.
